What The Flour came into being when a busy mom of three wanted to use another word that also begins with f. She was at the end of her rope. Her young son had a host of food intolerances that were keeping them all up at night and finding alternatives was time consuming, complicated and frustrating. Sound familiar?
The family favs were pancakes, waffles, muffins and cookies, but it was near impossible to find a mix that was gluten-free, nutrient-rich and didn’t do a great impersonation of cardboard. She didn’t want her son being left out, and if you’ve ever had the cookie tray pass you by because of a food allergy or intolerance, you know his pain.
She needed something that would work for everyone, not break the bank, or her sanity. We’d love for this to be the part in the story where our hero flounces around having fun with flour, but to be honest, it’s flour. Finding what mixed well together was a pain in the ass, but this mom wanted to be in charge of how the friggin’ cookie crumbled.
